The Bund, along the Huangpu riverfront, rose to promenence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with many banks and other large businesses building grandiose classical building there. This print depicts a crowd on the riverfront promenade with their backs to the Bund and the internationally recognized skyline of the new financial center in Pudong across the river in the distance.

Yulin Lu is a street in the Hongkou district, just across Suzhou Creek from downtown Shanghai. This scene depicts a common, historic street-side building, with a small, family run businesses open to the street and with residences above. These neighborhoods were quite active with people walking and biking around to do their shopping, business and general socializing, but now they are quickly being replaced by more modern buildings.

Xima Jie is a street in the Old City of Shanghai, once occupied mostly by people of the Ma clan from the Hui ethnic minority. The family Xie lived on this street for many generations. This print depicts the side of a Shikumen house on this street, with a small second floor porch and the complex web of wiring and A/C unit still in place. The Old City of Shanghai was the original walled in city, near the banks of the Huangpu River in what is now downtown.
